I did take the photo in Ella… thanks!

Waiting game. (Ella, Sri Lanka)
"Slowly, slowly" is an understatement. The train was 2 hours late, then took 8 hours to travel 163km from Ella to Kandy. Even the locals were getting antsy.

About 86 pachyderms in the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage are led to a nearby river for a bath. Although the orphanage ultimately has the best interest of the animals in mind, some practices are certainly for the tourists’ benefit.

Cheese! (Ella, Sri Lanka)
Taking the train through the carpets of tea in hill country is definitely one of the highlights of Sri Lanka. The 2-hour train ride from Ella to Haputale is breathtaking. Don’t go any further than that as the train moves painfully slow, covering only 160km in 6-8 hours!

After six years of drought, measuring sticks are useless in the Jordan River. The reservoir has shrunk to a fifth of its capacity and hasn’t filled since 2003.

Everyone in the Kathputli Colony refers to the stilted performer as ‘The Tall Man’.  The Kathputli colony is a slum in northwest Delhi mostly inhabited by Indian performers practicing tradicional art forms such as marionette puppetry, juggling, magic, acrobatics, dance and music.  Many have traveled all over the world showcasing their abilities and making ample livings doing so, but they still remain in this slum, which is one of the worst in the city.
